Penicillin G acylase producer. Diaminopimelate decarboxylase activity. Quality control strain for French and European Pharmacopeia. Highly streptomycin susceptible. No K-antigen.
Phenotype :
More closely related to commensal strains than the other lab strains, grows faster than K-12 and on a much broader range of carbon sources, and is the only safe E. coli strain which can utilize sucrose as a carbon source
